			As soon as Nobuko Nobuhira’s fictitious memoir was carried in weekly tabloids, politicians created a huge uproar. “Jiyu Shimpo,” the organ paper of the LDP, carried stories on the memoir on four separate occasions. Later, as the truth was revealed, LDP Public Relations director, Kaoru Yosano, issued an apology. Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto also made a phone call to the Soka Gakkai Headquarters saying, “Regarding my recent statement that ‘I am sorry to have caused various problems for the honorary president’, please feel free to share this because I truly feel sorry for what I have done.” Secretary General Koichi Kato also expressed his regret. LDP organ paper “Jiyu Shimpo” which carried an official apology to the Soka Gakkai (April 28th 1998).
