In recent years, shoplifting by housewives has become a social issue.
Many of these crimes are committed not because of financial struggles
but to “relieve stress” or because they “seek excitement.” |
There were plenty
of factors motivating Asaki to commit suicide. Asaki who appeared in the
Higashi-Murayama Police Department on suspicion of theft collaborated with
her fellow council member Yano and used someone else’s sales check
to create an alibi that she was at a restaurant when the crime happened.
However, her false schemes were discovered by the police through their investigations
and the papers pertaining to her case was sent to the Public Prosecutors
Office. The fact that she had committed suicide due to her shoplifting and
failure in creating an alibi is recognized in the court which claimed to
have “substantial reasons to believe in.”
